An attribute is a named characteristic of a product, such as Color, Size or Material. Each attribute has a set of options, its possible values, like Red, Blue and Green for Color.

The Product Attributes list

How do attributes and variants fit together?

  • You define an attribute once and reuse it on every product that needs it.
  • Each attribute has a Code (for example COLOR) used internally to keep values consistent. It's auto-generated from the name if you leave it blank.
  • Combining options from one or more attributes generates variants. A planter in 3 colors and 2 sizes makes 6 variants.
  • Options can store a swatch color, which shows as a dot when you pick values.

Tip. Define your common attributes like Color and Size once and reuse them. Shared attributes keep reporting and channel listings consistent across products.
