Create a bill of materials (BOM)
On the BOM tab, list the raw materials and sub-assemblies an assembled product is built from.
A bill of materials defines what goes into an assembled product. Use it when you manufacture an item from components rather than buying it finished.

How do I create a BOM?
- Open the product and click the BOM tab.
- Click Add Component, search for the material or sub-assembly SKU and select it.
- Enter the Qty per parent and a UOM (e.g. ea, kg, L).
- Optionally set a Scrap % and Effective or Obsolete dates.
- Repeat for every component the product needs.
How do I actually build it?
The BOM is the recipe. To produce the finished item and consume the components, use the Build / Work Order workflow under Warehouse → Builds.
Tip. Adding the first row converts a simple product into a BOM. A BOM and a bundle differ: a bundle ships its components, a BOM is assembled into a new stocked item.
