Configure inventory tracking and identifiers

On the Variants & Inventory tab, turn stock tracking on, allow backorders and set the UPC, EAN, GTIN and MPN identifiers.

Inventory settings decide whether the app counts stock for a product, and they hold the trade identifiers marketplaces ask for. Both live on the Variants & Inventory tab.

How do I turn on stock tracking and set identifiers?

  1. Open a product and click the Variants & Inventory tab.
  2. Tick Track inventory for this product to count stock and show available quantities.
  3. Tick Allow backorders when out of stock if you'll keep selling past zero.
  4. Under Product Identifiers, fill in UPC, EAN, GTIN and MPN as needed.
  5. Click Update Product to save.

Should I track inventory for every product?

No. Leave tracking off for services or virtual items you can never run out of, and you won't get false low-stock warnings.

Tip. These identifiers apply to the primary SKU. On variant products you manage each variant's identifiers individually in the grid.
